Arthroscopy & Sports Injury
Keyhole surgery for ACL/PCL, meniscus and ligament injuries — minimal scarring, faster return to sport, ISAKOS-aligned techniques.

What it is
Arthroscopy uses a pencil-thin camera and small instruments inserted through 5–10 mm incisions to repair joint problems from the inside. Compared to open surgery, this means minimal scarring, less post-op pain, lower infection risk, and a much faster return to sport or work.
Dr. Kalambe Patil's arthroscopy fellowship at Apollo Spectra and ISAKOS membership keep his ligament-reconstruction techniques aligned with the latest international evidence — particularly relevant for cricketers, runners and weekend athletes.
Conditions it treats
- ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear
- PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) tear
- Meniscus tear (including bucket-handle and root tears)
- Cartilage damage and chondral defects
- Loose bodies in the joint
- Recurrent shoulder dislocation (Bankart lesion)
- Rotator cuff tear
- Sports-related ligament injuries
What to expect
Day-care or 1-night stay
Most arthroscopic procedures don't require admission — home the same evening or next morning.
Walking same day
You walk on crutches the same day, transitioning to no support over 1–4 weeks depending on the procedure.
Structured 3–9 month rehab
Outcomes are made in physiotherapy. Every patient leaves with a week-by-week plan.
Sport-specific return
Light jogging at month 3–4. Pivoting sport at month 6–9, after strength & proprioception clearance.
