Robotic Joint Replacement
Sub-millimetre implant alignment, less soft-tissue trauma, faster recovery — by a Singapore fellowship-trained robotic surgeon.

What it is
Robotic-arm assisted joint replacement combines a 3D pre-operative plan (built from your specific CT scan) with a precision-guided cutting tool that executes that plan within sub-millimetre accuracy. The surgeon plans, supervises and operates — the robotic arm just enforces tolerances tighter than the human hand can reliably achieve.
For most patients this translates into better implant alignment, less collateral tissue damage, and a noticeably faster early recovery compared to manual techniques. Dr. Kalambe Patil completed his international fellowship in robotic joint replacement in Singapore and uses computer-assisted planning for the majority of his arthroplasty cases.
Conditions it treats
- Severe osteoarthritis of the knee, hip or shoulder
- Avascular necrosis of the hip
- Post-traumatic arthritis
- Failed previous joint surgery (revision replacement)
- Inflammatory arthritis affecting major joints
What to expect
CT-based planning
A pre-op CT builds a 3D model of your specific anatomy. Implant size and position are planned digitally before the day of surgery.
Robotic-arm execution
The arm physically prevents bone cuts from straying outside the planned path — sub-millimetre accuracy.
Real-time soft-tissue balancing
Ligament tension is tracked through trial implant motion so balancing is data-driven, not feel-driven.
Same-day mobilisation
Most patients stand within 4–6 hours and walk a few steps with a walker by the same evening.
3–4 night hospital stay
Each day the walking distance increases under guided physiotherapy.
Structured recovery
Cane-free walking by week 3–4, normal daily routines by week 6, full recovery by 3–4 months.
